Privacy Policy

Hermes is a public iOS client for connecting to a compatible Hermes Agent gateway that you choose. The app does not require a Hermes service account or organization affiliation. It stores gateway profile metadata on device and stores gateway API keys in the iOS Keychain.

Data the App Handles

• Gateway URL and profile name: stored locally on device so the app can reconnect.
• API key: stored locally in the iOS Keychain and sent only to the gateway URL you configure.
• Chat prompts, session history, file listings, file previews, run events, approval choices, and push registration data: sent to or received from the configured gateway as needed to provide the app experience.
• Voice input: speech recognition is configured for on-device recognition where supported. Hermes does not send microphone audio to the Hermes gateway for transcription.

Data Collection

Hermes uses PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated product-analytics events (for example, that the app launched or that a message was sent) to understand usage and improve the app. These events are tied only to a random, per-install identifier; they are not linked to your name, account, or device identity, and are not used to track you across other apps or websites. Hermes does not send message content, gateway URLs, or API keys to analytics, and does not include advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs. Hermes does not sell personal information.

The gateway you connect to is operated separately from this app. Its operator controls gateway logs, model providers, tools, filesystem access, and retention. Review that gateway operator's policies before sending sensitive content.

Permissions

• Microphone and speech recognition: used for voice input.
• Face ID: used to confirm approval of tool actions.
• Notifications: used for run status and approval notifications when the connected gateway supports push.
